Amazon Pantry, which is essentially Amazon’s one-stop-shop for daily essentials for Prime members, has reportedly reopened its services in a few cities. The Bengaluru-headquartered company resumed its services in select pincodes of Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Pune.

Amazon Pantry offers essentials like groceries, food items, health and beauty items, beverages etc.

Amit Agarwal, country head of Amazon India on Twitter wrote, “These are extraordinary times and we are single-mindedly focused on getting essentials to you. We continue to work with state governments to get clearance and with the district authorities to get curfew passes.”

Before the 21-day lockdown was imposed nationwide, Amazon Pantry was making deliveries in over 100 cities across India. After the lockdown was announced, the company temporarily suspended all activities — from accepting orders to making shipments on priority for the non-essential goods.

A note on Amazon India’s Pantry page said, “Dear customers, due to local restrictions, we are not able to deliver. We are working with the government authorities to enable us to deliver essential items. We will communicate through e-mail/SMS when we have an update.”

Although, it did give its customers the option of cancelling their order.

Amazon, too, resumed its delivery services for 24 cities. These include Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Chandigarh, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jamshedpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Ludhiana, Mohali, Mumbai, Mysuru, Nagpur, New Delhi, Noida, Panjim, Patna, Pune, Raipur, Vijayawada, and Visakhapatnam.

“We are prioritising deliveries of existing orders. Deliveries of new orders could take 7-10 days,” said the e-commerce company.

However, the company emphasised that these deliveries will only be limited to the customers who have placed the order by prepaid method and for essential products. Furthermore, the company on the website dedicated to the service said that even the deliveries of the essential goods might get delayed due to the ongoing lockdown.
