Kim Kardashian West has come under fire for making “problematic” comments about her weight. The reality star filmed her sisters, Khloe Kardashian and Kendall Jenner, complimenting her on how skinny she is and commenting that she looks like she “doesn’t eat”.
The star asked her sisters to repeat their comments again and again as she filmed them talking about how great she looks. At one point, Jenner said that she was worried about her sister as she looks like she “doesn’t eat”, at which Kim replied: “Oh my god. Thank you!”
Khloe then then went on describe Kim’s waist as “anorexic” and called her arms “pin thin”. Kim – who repeatedly said, “I’m not even that skinny,” whilst filming up and down her body – told the cameras that she weighs 119lbs “without hair extensions”.
A number of people on social media have come out to criticise Kim for putting this unhealthy message out there to her 114 million Instagram followers, most of whom are impressionable, young women. Her actions were described as “problematic” by one user and another said: “This is not OK!”
This is not the first time Kardashian has come under fire for promoting an unhealthy body image on social media. Earlier this year, the reality star was criticised for advertising appetite-suppressing lollies. She received so much backlash that she eventually deleted the post.
In 2017, just before the Met Gala, Kardashian was criticised for tweeting that she was grateful for getting the flu just before the red-carpet event because it meant that she was able to lose weight.
