The new Motorola Razr has been launched in the US and is set to come to India. But what could be its price and when could it launch?
- Motorola will bring the new Razr to the Indian market soon.
- The new Razr could cost more than what it costs in the US.
- The new Razr will be the second folding smartphone in India after the Samsung Galaxy Fold.
Motorola took the wraps off the new Razr last week and going by reactions on the Internet, it’s safe to say that it is one of the most exciting phones the market has seen this year. What impressed us, though, was not the inclusion of a folding display but Motorola sticking to the classic form factor for the new Razr, which only helps with practicality. The new Razr looks cool as well like its forefathers and we definitely want to see it in India. The question is – when is it coming to India?
Motorola Razr: When is it launching in India
The new Razr launched in the US last week and Motorola has said that it is bringing the folding flagship to India as well. Motorola has so far not revealed any launch date for the device but registrations for the phone have been left open ever since the global launch. And all Motorola is saying that the Razr will be coming soon to India.
That hints at possibly a late December launch during the festive season. However, sales in the US will begin from December and India could possibly see the device by early 2020. Hence, there are chances that during the CES 2020, Motorola India could launch the phone in our market as an alternative to the Samsung Galaxy Fold. Therefore, if you are willing to buy the new Razr, you might have to wait until late January 2020 to get your hands on one.
What will be the price of Moto Razr in India?
Globally, you can get the Razr for $1,500, which roughly translates to Rs 1.07 lakhs. Since the Razr isn’t going to be made in India, it could attract higher import duties and taxes, all of which could only make it more expensive in India. Hence, chances are that the Motorola Razr could cost you at least Rs 30,000 more than what it costs in the US. That means Indians could pay up to Rs 1.4 lakhs for the new Razr unless Motorola assembles the phone locally.
