Nokia 2 may launch on October 31 in India

NEW DELHI: Nokia 2 first made an appearance in the news last month in the form of render images. Few hours ago, it was spotted on AnTuTu with some specifications. Now, it is being rumoured that HMD Global could launch the smartphone tomorrow, October 31. There is no confirmation from the company yet.

The smartphone, based on the naming pattern and the recently revealed specifications, could be one of the cheapest Android-based Nokia smartphones in the market. Until now, the cheapest smartphone by the Finnish firm is the Nokia 3. It is priced at around Rs 8,800 on Amazon India.

This means that the Nokia 2 could come at a lower price tag, which we assume will be around Rs 6,000. All the Nokia smartphones in the lineup, which includes Nokia 3, 5, 6 and 8 are available from Amazon so the Nokia 2 could also be made available from the same e-commerce platform. The company could also make the device available offline.

Nokia 2 has apparently showed up on AnTuTu a day ahead of its launch. The smartphone comes with codename Nokia TA-1035. It is seen running Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box and powered by an entry-level Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 processor. The processor is clubbed with Adreno 304 and 1GB RAM.
The Nokia 2 is also seen sporting a HD (720×1280 pixels) display. Also, there is a 5MP camera at the front and an 8MP camera at the back. It will also feature 8GB inbuilt storage.

The smartphone has been leaked in some render images by tipster Evan Blass. The image showed the handset in two colour variants – Black and White. From the images, the models seem to sport a plastic back panel and big bezels at the front on all the four sides of the screen.
The Nokia branding with a front-facing camera, LED flash and speaker grille is seen on top of the screen, while the area stays clean below the display. The volume and the power button can be seen placed on the right side. At the back there is a camera placed at the centre along with a LED flash just below it. Both are placed encapsulated in the pill shaped enclosure. A single speaker too is seen at the bottom corner speaker.
