Xiaomi claims that the Redmi K20 and the Redmi K20 Pro are selling pretty well in India. Looks like, the Redmi K20 is getting a successor very soon. And of course it is the Redmi K30. At Xiaomi Developers Conference in Beijing, China today CEO Lei Jun talked about company’s 5G plans for 2020 and announced the launch timeline of the Redmi K30. Jun revealed that the Redmi K20 successor aka Redmi K30 will launch next month.
Earlier this week Redmi GM Lu Weibing said that the Redmi K30 will go official next year. Weibing probably meant that the Redmi K30 will be available for purchase in January 2020. The launch date of the Redmi K30 is yet to be revealed by Xiaomi.
Besides confirming the launch timeline of the Redmi K30 Jun said it will come with dual-mode 5G support. In other words, both the SIM slots of the K30 will support 5G. The CEO didn’t reveal any specification details about the Redmi K30 yet.
Previously Redmi GM said that the Redmi K30 will come with 5G support. Some leaks suggest that the Redmi K30 will come with a dual punch-hole display. In other words, the Redmi K30 will not have Redmi K20 like pop-up design and include two selfie cameras. Redmi is yet to reveal official details about the K30.
At the Developers Conference, Jun didn’t reveal any details about Redmi K30 Pro but rumours suggest that the Pro version will launch next year. The Redmi K30 is expected to come with Snapdragon 700 series processor while the Redmi K30 Pro is likely to come with Snapdragon 800 series chipset — similar to the Redmi K20 Pro. The Redmi K20 is powered by Snapdragon 730 processor while the K20 Pro comes with Snapdragon 855 processor.
During the same conference, Jun said all Xiaomi phones priced above 2,000 Yuan (around Rs 20,000 will come with 5G support in 2020. Jun further added that Xiaomi will launch at least 10 5G phones next year. In fact, the company is said to launch affordable 5G phones in the first half of 2020.
