Technology giant Samsung has launched its next generation of smart wearables – the Gear Fit 2 Pro and the Gear Sport – in India. While Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro is priced at Rs 13,590, the Gear Sport is available at Rs 22,990.
Unveiled at the IFA Berlin 2017, both the devices will go on sale on December 11 and will be available on Flipkart and Amazon and the company’s own e-store. Pre-bookings will begin a week before on December 4.
The Samsung Gear S3 and Gear Fit 2 come with IP68 certification for water and dust resistance, meaning they can be submerged in 1.5 meters of water for around 30 minutes. Samsung Gear Sport and Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro have water resistance capabilities up to 50 meters (5ATM).
The improved water resistance of the devices also means that users can actually take the devices with them when they go for swim. Both the wearables also come with heart rate monitoring and auto-activity detection.
Samsung Gear Sport is similar to the company’s Gear S3. Made of premium steel, the smartwatch comes with a 1.2-inch circular AMOLED display with 360x360p resolution protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It is powered by 1GHz dual-core chipset coupled with 768MB RAM. The smartwatch has 4GB of onboard storage and houses a 300mAh battery. Samsung Gear Sport runs Tizen OS and is compatible with smartphones powered by Android Jellybean 4.3 and above. It is not only compatible with Android devices, but also with iPhones running iOS 9 and above.
Speaking of Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro, the wearable sports a 1.5-inch Super AMOLED curved display with 216×432-pixel resolution and 310ppi. Powered by 1GHz dual-core chipset, Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro comes with 512MB RAM and 4GB internal storage. Gear Fit 2 Pro houses a 200mAh battery, and has Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi and GPS as connectivity options. Much like Samsung Gear Sport, it runs Tizen OS.
