Indian smartphone market leader Xiaomi is set to complete its eight years in the market on May 31. To mark its anniversary, the company is going to launch a special edition smartphone in Shenzhen to be called Mi 8 on that day. The last week has seen a lot of leaks — even confirmations from the company — about the smartphone.

Adding to that, Xiaomi has posted on Chinese microblogging website Weibo that the Mi 8 is going to come with the Animoji support, just like the iPhone X. The video posted by Xiaomi shows a pig, a fox, a panda, and Xiaomi’s mascot singing company’s flagship tune. But this isn’t the only feature that Xiaomi is ‘adopting’ from Apple. The leaked images and official posters of the upcoming Mi 8 have shown that the device will also come with an iPhone X-like notch .

The company has also confirmed that Xiaomi Mi 8 is going to be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.

Even the price of the upcoming handset has been spotted on Weibo. It states that the upcoming Mi 8 will come in two storage variants – 6GB RAM and 64 GB storage for CNY 2,799 (approximately Rs 29,918) and a high-end variant featuring 8GB RAM with 128GB internal storage that will be priced at CNY 3,199 (approximately Rs 34,193).
Besides the price, the image also reveals some specs of the Mi 8 smartphone such as the handset will sport a 6.01-inch display and will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 845 processor. The front camera comes with 3D face recognition and artificial intelligence features for capturing selfies.

Meanwhile in India, Xiaomi is going to launch a new smartphone in India on June 7. The company has tweeted about the launch of a selfie-centric smartphone at an event to be held in New Delhi. As per the speculation, the company is going to launch the successor of the Xiaomi Redmi Y1 smartphone in India, which was Xiaomi’s selfie centric devices.
