Xiaomi’s cheapest smartphone in India, Redmi 5A is set to go on sale today. The device will be available via company’s official online store Mi.com and domestic e-commerce platform Flipkart. The Redmi 5A will go on flash sale today at 12PM on both the online portals.
Touted as the ‘Desh ka smartphone’ at the time of the launch, the Redmi 5A comes in two storage options. The base model offers 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage and bears a price tag Rs 5,999, while the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage version is priced at Rs 6,999.
Those looking to purchase the device from Flipkart can avail certain additional benefits. There is a 5% discount for Axis Bank Buzz credit card holders. Also, Reliance Jio users can get Rs 1,000 cashback for both variants.
In terms of specs, the Xiaomi Redmi 5A features a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and f/2.2 aperture and a 5MP front shooter with f/2.0 aperture for selfies. Boasting a metal unibody body design, it features a 3000mAh battery that is claimed to last up to 8 days. The device has a 5-inch HD display with 720×1280 pixel resolution. Powering the handset is a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor.
The Xiaomi Redmi 5A has runs Android 7.1 Nougat operating system topped with MIUI 9, UI layer of the company. The handset has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor as well. It comes in Platinum Silver Gray, Champagne Gold and Cherry Powder colour option. Weighing 137 grams, the smartphone measures 140.4×70.1×8.3mm and can support microSD card up to 128GB. The Redmi 5A comes with a dedicated microSD card slot which means that users have the option to expand the storage even while using two SIM cards. In terms of connectivity, the smartphone offers 4G, VoLTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS.
